Job Description
The Role
As a Security Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer at a23, you’ll work with clients, vendors, and delivery partners to design, implement, and optimise on-premises virtualised platforms, physical hardware, and public cloud services.
We welcome candidates with all preferred employment types for this opportunity. Please note that casual labour hire or subcontractor appointments are likely to be 12 months in duration at the outset.
You’ll bring proven experience in designing, deploying, and managing virtualisation platforms such as VMware and Azure Local, with the ability to balance BAU operations alongside complex project delivery. Proficiency in DevOps practices and infrastructure-as-code (ideally Terraform) is essential, along with strong scripting skills and a current, in-depth knowledge of the Azure ecosystem.

Key responsibilities
Infrastructure Design
Design and documentation of private cloud server hardware solutions.
Produce detailed designs for server hardware management applications.
Develop comprehensive “As Built” documentation for deployed infrastructure.
Create security documentation using approved templates, ensuring compliance with organisational and regulatory standards.
Private Cloud Design & Development
Produce detailed designs for private cloud environments, covering hypervisor and platform layers.
Deliver “As Built” documentation and associated security artefacts for the private cloud platform.
Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code scripts to automate deployment and configuration.
Design and implement integrations between on-premises and cloud environments, ensuring seamless interoperability.
Architecture Support
Create high-quality technical diagrams and architectural artefacts to support solution design and implementation.
Collaborate with solution architects, security teams, and project stakeholders to ensure designs meet business and technical requirements.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
Essential
AGSVA Clearance: Negative Vetting Level 1 (NV1).
5+ years of experience as an Infrastructure Engineer
Proven experience with Azure Cloud Platform
Proven experience with Azure Local
Proven experience with VMWare/VCF
Proficiency in scripting and infrastructure as code
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Active Directory, Windows Server, SCCM, and PowerShell scripting.
Key Skills & Experience
Proven experience in HPE server hardware design, deployment, including management tools like HPE OneView and related management tools.
Strong knowledge of private cloud platforms, hypervisors, and platform services. VMware and Azure Local
Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (e.g., Terraform, PowerShell).
Demonstrated ability to produce detailed design documentation and security artefacts.
Experience with hybrid cloud integration
Ability to create professional technical diagrams
Understanding of security frameworks and compliance requirements for infrastructure environments.
Qualifications
A recognised ICT certification or tertiary qualification
Industry certifications from VMware, HPE, Terraform and Microsoft
Azure certifications are highly desirable.
